Well, there goes my preseason MVP pick. Kevin Love is down and out with a broken hand, and the Twolves will certainly suffer for it. Love had 26 points and 13 rebounds per game last season, and that was on a non playoff team. A full season of Love with point guard Ricky Rubio may have improved those numbers, as well as the Minnesota playoff hopes. But now with both Rubio and Love missing time early on, it may be another long year for the Timberwolves.

Thanks to Peyton Manning, I now remember that the Grizzlies are still an NBA franchise. Yes, they have had some postseason success, but their relevance is still waining in a star driven league. But with Manning at the helm, along with Justin Timberlake and Penny Hardaway, this team finally has some buzz around em. It isn’t about what these guys can do as owners, it is what they bring to the table in marketability. Much like the Nets and Jay-Z, these superstars make the Grizzlies a hot commodity in the NBA among celebrities and fans alike. And it doesn’t hurt that Manning is a University of Tennessee alum.

The Brooklyn Nets recently just unveiled their slick new jerseys at a rocking Jay-Z concert. The Knicks, well they unveiled 38 year old center Rasheed Wallace. The excitement in New York is clearly aimed at the borough of Brooklyn right now, but Knicks fans shouldn’t feel too down.

Rasheed has sat out of the NBA for the past two years, so it is safe to say his body will be fresh for the season. And that means he will be able to give Tyson Chandler some much needed rest. Lets see…….well, there isn’t really much else to say. This geriatric version of the Knicks may lack the flash of the Nets, but hey, games are played on the court, not on paper.

The San Antonio Spurs are probably the oldest team in the NBA. I only say probably because the more the Knicks sign someone, the older they seem to get. Anyway, the old guys will be sporting some slick new jerseys this year.  All that is on them is the little spur thing. I will be honest and say I have no idea what a spur is, or if that even is one; either way it looks pretty awesome.

Every time I see a new post from the Jackie Chan facebook page I get all excited. And when you see a picture like this, how could you not? I’m not sure why Jackie is standing with a cardboard cutout of Michael Jordan, nor do I care. I just know that it is absolutely spectacular.

When you hear the name O’Neal on the steps of Capitol Hill you are probably dealing with an old Irish guy. Not today though, now we have big Shaq taking to the stairs to try to send a message to our nations youth. That message being quite a simple one: start drinking responsibly. Here are some Shaq quotes from the Century Council, an organization that fights irresponsible drinking.

Before Amare Stoudemire, before Carmelo Anthony, there was Tracy McGrady. In 2010 the Knicks traded for the one time superstar in order to make salary room to bring in the aforementioned players. Now both the Knicks and the Spurs will bring T-Mac in for workouts in the hopes of signing him. In 24 games with the Knicks, T-Mac averaged 9 points and 4 assist. If he could put up anything close to those numbers he could only help New York bench. Problem is, the Knicks are already one of the oldest teams in the league, and the 33 year old McGrady certainly wouldn’t help that. But maybe age is just a number, and we know T-Mac can put up numbers.
