Knicks drop 5th in a row as the 76′ers extend their Atlantic Division lead

This game was hard to watch. The Knicks got romped by a score of 106-94. Melo got his points with 22 but of course it because he took more shots than anyone else. Well that would be true if it wasn’t for the horrid shooting performance of Jeremy Lin, who took 18 shots and only hit 5. That to go along with 6 turnovers. The numbers were ugly for everyone this game, but none looked more dreadful than Amar’e Stoudemire. Stat had just 9 points and 5 rebounds, he looked a step behind everyone else the whole game.

Stat was the reason the Knicks became relevant again, and for that I am thankful to him. But his knees are shot and he clearly can not play at a high level anymore. As much as I hate Melo, I do recognize and respect he still can be a great player, Stat however has seen the last of his glory days. From the moment the NBA announced the amnesty clause, which allows team one chance to take a contract off of the salary cap, I knew that they would one day need to use it on Stat. But the they wasted it on Chauncey Billups, who they decided to sign over the summer. Now the Knicks will be trapped with the massive contract of Amar’e, and sadly he may not be able to provide any value to them, especially as he gets even older and more broken down.
