Amidst trade rumors, Rajon Rondo has a career day and leads the Celtics over the Knicks

For the past week Rajon Rondo has been thrown around the trading block. His name has been soiled as a locker room cancer and his skills have been questioned. Against the Knicks he reminded everyone why he is such a hot commodity. Not just any triple double was acquired by Rondo, but one that only two other players have ever accomplished. 18 points, 17 rebounds, 20 assist. Colossal numbers that come together maybe once every 30 years. Some New York sports radio host were proposing a straight up trade of Jeremy Lin for Rajon Rondo. And they didn’t want to do it because they coveted Lin. They may have to rethink that assessment.

Speaking of Lin, he had a bit of a rough game. He had just 5 assist and a massive 6 turnovers. His shot was far from pretty, Lin threw up what looked like 3 or 4 airballs over the course of the game. And even with the poor performance by Lin and the majestic one by Rondo, the Knicks still led by three points with 4 seconds to go. Yet thats when Paul Pierce stepped in and drained the game tying 3 pointer. And of course, the Knicks would fall in overtime to the momentum of the Celtics.

Some good news for Knicks fans; Steve Novakaine Novak had another day coming off the bench. He hit 4 threes while scoring 14 points. Unfortunately it appeared that the Knicks bench overall was a lot more productive than the starters. Other than Tyson Chandler, the Knicks that play the most minutes every night have been far from the most important lately.
