Phil Jackson wanted no part of the Knicks mess

Keywords: phil jackson, knicks

Going back to the time where Mike D’Antoni was coach of the Knicks, there were rumblings that Phil Jackson may be next in line. After the Knicks opted to stay with Mike Woodson, Phil Jackson expressed how he felt about the situation. And to be blunt, he doesn’t really like this team.

“There’s just too much work that has to be done with that team, they don’t fit together well. (Amare) Stoudemire doesn’t fit well with Carmelo (Anthony), ’Stoudemire’s a really good player. But he’s gotta play in a certain system and a way… ‘Carmelo has to be a better passer. And the ball can’t stop every time it hits his hands. They need to have someone come in that can kinda blend that group together.”

He also referred to the Knicks as a “clumsy” team. There are a lot of words you can use about the New York Knicks, but I am not too sure clumsy is one of them. Either way, the Zen Master wanted no part of the James Dolan experiment. Although apparently Dolan had no intentions of calling Phil to begin with, so in the end this is all really a moot point.
