Injuries are keeping Iman Shumpert out of the dunk contest, and it may last even longer

Iman Shumpert made his debut with the Knicks on Christmas day. Then he got injured and the Knicks had to pick up a young Asian American Harvard grad off of waivers. Well we know how that story ended. Now Iman Shumpert is out again, this time being replaced by Baron Davis. Shump has had a great rookie season, he has been tops in the league in steals per game all season. He was invited to participate in this weekends dunk contest but his injuries will hold him back.

The question is, how long will the injuries keep him out of the rotation? With Baron Davis back and contributing the Knicks have no reason to rush the rookie. But it is a scary sign when such a young player has already missed time with two separate injuries. Hopefully the Knicks are just being cautious and we will see Shump back a few games after the All Star break.
